The Burton Step On® Genesis EST black is, in my opinion, one of the most advanced bindings that Burton has in its lineup. If you love convenience but don’t want to compromise on performance, then this is the binding for you. The Step On® system allows you to get into your bindings in just a few seconds. No more fumbling with straps or cold hands on the mountain, just click in and go.
What makes this Genesis EST so special is the combination of the Step On® convenience with the EST baseplate. This gives you a super direct feel with your board and benefits from a natural flex that perfectly matches the shape of your Burton snowboard with The Channel. You’ll notice that every movement you make is immediately transferred to your board. This makes this binding ideal for riders who want to utilize their snowboard skills on any terrain.
The hi-back is equipped with the Kickback Hammock, a technology that comfortably wraps around your heel while providing extra responsiveness. You’ll especially notice this in your turns, where you experience more control without being stiffly locked in. Burton designed this binding for all-mountain use, which means you can cruise through the park just as well as through deep powder or on hard-packed slopes.
In terms of comfort, the Genesis EST black is spot on. The cushioning in the baseplate absorbs vibrations, which makes a real difference, especially on long descents. Additionally, the binding doesn’t feel overly stiff, allowing you to maintain a surfy feel while still having enough responsiveness when you need it.
Of course, there is one important caveat: the EST version only works in combination with Burton snowboards that utilize The Channel system. If you have that, you’re set. If not, fortunately, there is also a Re:Flex variant of the Genesis available.
All in all, the Burton Step On® Genesis EST black is truly a recommendation for riders who want to get in quickly, seek maximum control, and place a high value on comfort. This is a binding that can last for years and elevates your snowboarding experience to the next level.
