The Burton Midweight Base Layer Crewneck in Nightfall is one of those garments you should always take on a snowboard trip. As a base layer, this top largely determines how comfortable your day on the mountain will be. What I like is that Burton has balanced this crewneck perfectly: warm enough to retain body heat, yet breathable enough to prevent overheating.
The DRYRIDE Ultrawick Midweight 200 fabric wicks moisture quickly and traps warmth. This makes the crewneck suitable for both intense park days and long outings in cold conditions. The fabric also dries quickly, so you won’t be stuck in a damp shirt for long.
The four-way stretch is a real plus. You can feel the fabric moving with you, which is especially useful when doing grabs or when you use your arms a lot while Carving. Thanks to the flatlock seams the top feels comfortable without chafing or pressure points.
The Agion® odor-resistant treatment is a smart addition. Especially if you ride several days in a row, the fabric stays fresher for longer. I always appreciate this in base layers because it’s simply more practical and hygienic on a snowboard trip.
Another detail worth mentioning are the thumbholes in the sleeves. They keep the sleeves in place when you put on your gloves or add an extra layer. No more sleeves riding up, which is super practical.
