Bent Metal took an important step in the evolution of snowboard bindings in 2025 by obtaining an exclusive license to use Nidecker’s Supermatic technology. This technology, known as the first universal automatic step-in system for snowboard bindings, is now integrated into Bent Metal’s own line under the name Lightning Supermatic. With this, the brand combines the innovative automatic step-in mechanism with its signature materials and riding technology, such as the Flex Control Drive Plate and the Cube forward lean system.
The collaboration with Nidecker was officially announced in early 2025 and means that Bent Metal has access to patented elements of the Supermatic system. This technology makes it possible to step in quickly and effortlessly without sacrificing performance. The binding automatically detects when your foot steps in, activates the highback and locks the straps, without you having to bend over or tighten ratchets manually. Exiting is done with a simple heel movement that releases the locking mechanism.
Bent Metal did not simply copy the Supermatic technology, but redesigned the system within its own philosophy. The materials and components have been tuned to the distinctive riding feel that Bent Metal delivers. The Drive Plate technology, a layered composite inspired by snowboard construction, provides control over torsion and damping. As a result, the binding feels responsive while remaining comfortable, even during long days on the mountain.
