Discover the Bataleon Etna HW
The Bataleon Etna HeelWrap™ is for me one of those rare bindings that perfectly hit the sweet spot between all-mountain versatility and freestyle freedom. If you – like me – enjoy cruising on groomers but aren't afraid to occasionally hit the park line or throw in some tricks, then this binding is worth its weight in gold. It feels stable, yet playful enough to keep having fun.
The HeelWrap chassis is what truly makes this binding special: it firmly supports your heel, provides immediate response during carves, yet is flexible enough to allow for small tweaks and butters. Combined with the 3/4 Back Highback, you have a highback that gives you support where needed but doesn't get in the way when you want to turn or move freely.
The Cradle ankle and toe straps are incredibly comfortable. Thanks to Auxetic Shape Technology, they conform perfectly to your boots without irritating pressure points. This makes stepping in and clicking in feel very natural, allowing you to stay comfortable all day. The Kink Ladders also give you the opportunity to adjust the strapping: if you want more lock-in for stability, choose the higher position; if you want more tweak sensation for tricks, use the lower position.
In terms of durability, you're also in good hands: the Bulletproof buckles are made from strong aluminum and close quickly and reliably. The footbed is flat (0 degrees), with single-density foam, which ensures consistent cushioning and a good connection with your board. Under your foot is an EVA sub-base pad that filters out vibrations, reducing chatter on rough pistes.
Adjusting settings is smooth: you can adjust the baseplate so that your boot sits nicely centered, benefiting your board performance. The highback is also adjustable in forward lean, allowing you to fine-tune your Ride style for aggressive or relaxed behavior.
When it comes to terrain, the Etna HeelWrap feels at home across the entire mountain landscape. I've used it on groomers, where it carves smoothly, but it also offers enough freedom to play in halfpipe-like situations. Its medium flex ensures it doesn't feel stiff, yet isn't too soft either: you maintain control.
In short: if you're looking for a binding that doesn't limit you to one type of riding but offers stability and comfort – without compromises – then the Etna HeelWrap is an absolute recommendation for me.
