What immediately stands out about the Source FC is the extremely advanced construction. Union has completely removed the classic disk and replaced it with a Direct Connect system. This places your binding literally closer to your board, resulting in an unprecedented direct feel and faster edge-to-edge response. Every movement is transmitted directly, without delay or loss of energy. The result is a binding that feels as if it forms one unit with your snowboard.
The foundation of the Source FC consists of an ultralight S10 Halo Duraflex XB baseplate frame, combined with a Forged Carbon DCS core. This combination makes the binding not only exceptionally light but also extremely stiff and responsive. The use of Italian forged carbon in the highback further reinforces this sensation: the S18 Source FC highback is about 40% lighter than traditional nylon highbacks and provides nearly immovable support at high speeds and aggressive carves.
With a flex rating of roughly 8/10, the Source FC is aimed at advanced to expert snowboarders who enjoy speed, precision and aggressive terrain riding. The binding feels tight and direct, with little forgiveness, so you get exactly what you put into it. This makes it ideal for steep descents, high-speed carving and technical freeride terrain.
Even in the details everything is focused on weight saving and performance. The Phantom Slim ankle straps and TS 6.0 toe straps are minimalist in design, yet still provide a secure and comfortable lock on your boots. The Magnesium S1 ratchets ensure smooth, reliable entry and quick micro-adjustments, even in cold and rough conditions.
In addition, the stance is lowered and the total amount of material used has been drastically reduced, bringing you even closer to your board and giving you more feel for the snow surface. This increases control and precision in every turn.
