Everything about the Lib Tech Skunk Ape
Everything about the Lib Tech Skunk Ape
The Lib Tech Skunk Ape II is an innovative snowboard that offers unparalleled performance and versatility for larger riders, with a combination of stability, control, and freestyle capabilities.

Magne-Traction is a patented technology that creates wavy edges on snowboards for improved grip on icy and hard snow. These waves provide extra contact points that enhance stability and control.

A project from experiMENTAL Division for larger riders gets a newly designed nose! Constant testing and refinements by Trevor Phillips, Krush Kulesza, Neil Green, and Kurt Jensen make this the best freestyle board for powerful men on the market.
The Lib Tech Skunk Ape Camber is the ultimate dream board for big guys – now with classic camber for unparalleled response and power. This all-mountain directional twin snowboard is designed by Lib Tech’s experiMENTAL Division, with ongoing refinements from riders like Trevor Phillips, Krush Kulesza, Neil Green, and Kurt Jensen. The result: a robust board that can handle both the slopes and deep powder.
Shape and Rhythm
The board features a slightly longer, relaxed nose – the “ATV nose shape” – which provides excellent float in powder snow while allowing for quick, tight turns on the slopes. The directional twin shape offers balanced performance in both riding directions at freestyle rips and approaches freeride capabilities when you cut down the mountain.
Camber Feel & Edge Control
With its classic camber construction, the Skunk Ape offers tight pop and direct feedback. The combination of camber with Magne-Traction edges – pointed, serrated edge profiling – ensures maximum grip on hard snow or icy patches.
Technical Build
The core is a mix of 60% Aspen and 40% Paulownia wood, resulting in a lightweight yet resilient construction with ample pop and durability. The board also features Lib Tech’s ultralight Horsepower (HP) construction, internal birch sidewalls, UHMW-sintered sidewalls, and tip/tail impact deflection for enhanced protection and longevity.
Topsheet and Base
On top, it showcases art by Quincy Quigg and an eco-friendly Eco Sublimated Poly top; the base is a fast sintered knife-cut base, optimizing speed and wax retention.
Size & Flexibility
Available in wide and ultra-wide sizes (157W–173UW cm) with a race sidecut radius of around 8.5 m and flex of 7/10 – firm, perfect for heavier riders who rely on power and stability. Bindings can be set in a Stance width between 21–26″ and 1″ setback for a slightly directional feel.
Who is it for?
This board is intended for the ‘big guys’ – riders weighing around 70 kg and heavier – who want a board that masters both power turns and slope riding. The camber version is the faster, more responsive alternative compared to the rocker-oriented Skunk Ape.
